Title Temporary Assistant Professors Stage Round-the-Clock Protest at Janapada University Demanding Release of 10 Months' Pending Salaries

Summary Outline: Short Summary Temporary Assistant Professors at Karnataka Janapada University have launched a round-the-clock protest demanding the immediate release of their pending salaries for the last 10 months. Although the Vice-Chancellor has sought two days to resolve the issue, the protesters have stated that the agitation will continue until an official order for salary disbursement is issued.
Shiggaon, July 14: Temporary Assistant Professors from various departments of Karnataka Janapada University have launched a round-the-clock protest in front of the university's administrative building, demanding the immediate release of their pending salaries for 10 months pertaining to the 2024–25 and 2025–26 academic years. The protesting faculty members stated that they have been conducting classes according to the university's academic schedule, teaching students, and extending full support for the smooth conduct of examinations. However, they expressed deep dissatisfaction, saying that the non-payment of salaries for the past 10 months has pushed their families into severe financial hardship. They alleged that despite submitting several representations to the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and Syndicate members, no concrete action has been taken. They further claimed that although the Syndicate had instructed the administration to release the pending salaries, the university authorities have failed to implement the decision. Vice-Chancellor Prof. T.M. Bhaskar, who visited the protest site, requested two days' time to resolve the issue. However, the protesters made it clear that the round-the-clock agitation would continue until an official order for the release of the pending salaries is issued. The President of the Employees' Association, Dr. Venkanagouda Patil, extended his support to the protesting temporary Assistant Professors. During the protest, staff members also expressed strong dissatisfaction with the functioning of the university administration. They alleged that the Registrar was administering the university from a different location instead of being physically present on campus. They said this administrative approach has resulted in delays in addressing the concerns of both staff and students and urged the Registrar to discharge administrative responsibilities from the university campus in a more accountable manner. The protesting Assistant Professors warned that if the pending salaries are not released within the two-day deadline, they will intensify their agitation. Those present during the protest included Dr. Uttam K.H., Dr. Nadaf H., Dr. Shankar Kundagol, Dr. Rajashekar Dombaramattur, Abhinaya H., Dr. Abhilash H.K., Dr. Raziya Begum Nadaf, Dr. Praveen Kareppanavar, Saiyada Khadri, and Shivanand Doddamani, among others.
